Department of Pharmacognosy

About The Department

The department is constituted with UG lab, PG lab, and Instrumentation lab. The Pharmacognosy department is involved in the development of standardized herbal formulations for various diseases. Within the span of ten years the department has produced number of graduates & post graduates and has published numbers of research papers in the journals of national and international repute.

The departmental research activities are concentrated in the following areas:

  • Standardization and quality control of herbal drugs and products
  • Herbal Drug Technology
  • Formulation Development from natural products
  • Isolation and characterization of natural molecules
  • Anti microbial, anti fungal, anti dandruff, screening of herbal medicines
  • Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic studies for anthelmintic, anti pyretic, analgesic activities.
  • Screening of drugs for their adjuvant activity

Labs & Facilities:

B Pharm. Lab: B.Pharm. labs are equipped with instruments required for extraction and evaluation of crude drugs. Lab is equipped with projection microscopes, oil emersion microscope with microphotographic facility.

M.Pharm Lab: The sophisticated lab contains state of the art facility for research and development of herbal formulation. Lab is equipped with tincture press, soxhlet units, zone reader, electrophoresis equipment.
